"Bring it!!" she says again. And so it shall be broughtPoor Unrepentant Old Hippie JJ. At some point, one would think she would learn that some people will interpret "bring it!!" as a challenge. Some may remember JJ's previous "bring it!!" challenge and her overwhelmingly underwhelming response to it.But apparently old hippies never learn, once again insisting that the proponents of Bill C-434 and its successor initiative, resolution P-207, admit that it offers no protection to pregnant women.Since the assertion itself isn't true, JJ would likely find it difficult to provide an example of the resolution's proponents admitting to it.So, once again the Nexus will answer JJ's challenge, and pose questions that -- just you wait -- she'll refuse to answer. Questions such as the following:1. Can...
And he won't back downWith an election call seemingly only days away and spurious opposition to Bill C-484 -- the Unborn Victirms of Crime bill -- stubbornly refusing to abate, the Conservative government is moving to try to disperse what it seems to fear is a coming storm."We've heard criticism from across the country, including representatives from the medical community, that Mr. Epp's bill, as it is presently drafted, could be interpreted as instilling fetal rights," announced Justice Minister Rob Nicholson. "Our government will not reopen the debate on abortion."Bill C-484 would, indeed, introduce fetal rights. However, because of the fact that the bill contains an explicit clause forbidding its use in cases of abortion or against any act (of commission or omission) of the mother,...
Dear Ken Epp,Aw, hell. I'm just going to go ahead and call you Ken.By now you may or may not have read the letter Lulu, the perpetually-crazed matriarch of the Canadian Cynic Temple of Sycophantic Groupthink, wrote to you about Bill C-484.And I'm imagining that if that is the case then right about now, you and I must be thinking approximately the same thing. How someone could build their entire objection to the Bill in question on a refusal to listen and somehow actually be proud of that really is almost inconceivable to the rational mind. But, then again, these aren't rational minds we're dealing with, are we?After all, the "Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada's false claims about Bill C-484". Is a fairly stolid rebuttal of the misinformation the pro-abortion lobby is using to promote...

MP Ken Epp replies to the doctor organizations who oppose Bill C-484.As a physician, you are trained to save lives. The fact that any doctor would fight to save the life of the yet-to-be-born child simply demonstrates the instinctive understanding that there is a life there to save, in spite of it not being a "human being" in Canadian law.Losing an unborn child in a violent act is beyond heartbreaking. It is a devastating tragedy which is only exacerbated by the fact that our legal system, not to mention society in general, has for too long turned its back on these most vulnerable of women and their families. By not charging an assailant in this tragic circumstance, we only add to the hurt and sorrow that survivors experience. C-484 is a compassionate response to their cry for justice.I...

A great video by a young woman about Bill C 484. Great work Sarah!...

I am in Winnipeg for a few days for the annual meeting of Civitas. Dr Gaetan bareete of the FMSQ, returned my call today. I expressed my great displeasure with the FMSQ position on Bill C-484. When I said he had not consulted the members he said the FMSQ is a representative organization and he did say their were doctors who did not agree with the FMSQ position , in his statements to the press. He said that most of the feedback he's had for the members mirrored his own position. The association of Ob /Gynes are the ones who brought this up. The impression of Dr Barette and the Obs is that this is a way to eventually ban abortion. I was unable to convince him otherwise. I have offered to connect him with Mr Epp. Gaetan also told me he got many calls from supporters of the bill who told him...

I wrote about Bill C-484 and the FMSQ recently. Someone seems to have been paying attention.Like the Quebec Federation of Medical Specialists (which I understand did not even consult its 8,000 members before denouncing my bill), the New Brunswick Advisory Council on the Status of Women has fallen victim to the disinformation campaign launched by a few special interest groups against my Private Members Bill C-484, the Unborn Victims of Crime Act.It is tragic that a group which would hopefully represent all women -- including those who have chosen to love and want their unborn babies -- could be so easily duped....

I wrote this letter to the Montreal Gazette to protest the FMSQ position on Bill C-484. I have yet to hear from Dr. Gaetan Barette or any other member of the FMSQ executive.Thank you for "Medical specialists don't know what they're talking about" (Opinion, April 22) by Paul Ranalli.I belong to the Quebec Federation of Medical Specialists, but no one asked the membership about anti-bill C-484 positions.I support the bill, as do most Canadians. I have tried to contact officials at the QFMS, with no success. I don't think it has any business involving itself in such matters unless it asks the membership. I am very disappointed with my association.Roy EappenMontreal...

I am a member of the FMSQ because I have to be. It is the organization that represents medical specialists in Quebec. The President of the FMSQ is Dr Gaetan Baretter. The FMSQ stuck its nose where it has no business and voiced public opposition to Bill C484, the unborn victims of crime act. I have written and called Barette, but there has been no response. As far as I know the mebership of the FMSQ was not asked about this position. This article skewers the FMSQ for its position. It is written by a medical specialist who oppose the FMSQ position and supports Bill C 484, as do I.For years we have been told by pro-choice advocates that abortion is a necessary solution to the problem of unwanted pregnancies, that "every child should be a wanted child." Yet here we have wanted pregnancies....

My teacher and friend Dr. Margaret Somerville corrects some feminist myths about the fetus.Fetus and woman are separate entitiesLetterPublished: 22 minutes agoRe: "Bill is backdoor effort to stop abortion: MDs" (Gazette, April 16).I would like to clarify the statement that "on Jan. 28, 1988, the Supreme Court struck down Section 251 of the Criminal Code that made abortion illegal, ruling that a woman and her fetus are considered a single physical person."The court did rule that a fetus is not a person for the purposes of attributing Charter rights to it, but that was not the primary basis of its decision that the law governing abortion was unconstitutional. Rather, it held the abortion law was unconstitutional because a woman who needed an abortion to protect her life or health might not...

Suzanne Fortin has written an excellent article in the National Post. Joanne comments on it here. Suzane fights for the rights of babies and women! Her article makes a strong case for Bill C-484. The death cult wants to argue there is no baby until it is in a crib at home. But the abortion lobby doesn't see it that way. The most vocal opponent of Bill C-484, Joyce Arthur of the Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada (ARCC), has yet to acknowledge that losing a fetus is in itself an injustice. ARCC argues that Bill C-484 "does not protect women, only fetuses." ARCC wrongly believes any protection given to a fetus in law is objectionable. It believes domestic violence, not losing an unborn child, should be the "real issue."ARCC's main concern is that C-484 would confer a type of personhood on...

I spoke to Ken Epp who has sponsored Bill C-484 on Legal Briefs on CourtTV Canada. I complimented Epp on his bill and told the death cult feminist on the show that many Canadians don't want abortion on demand until 9 months. Carolyn Egan of the Ontario coalition of abortion clinics wants a bill to increase penalties for attacks on women. She seems oblivious to the suffering of babies. One woman who lost a daughter and grandson called in to support Mr Epp's bill. I hope it passes....
