This is a great coupon that will let you save $10 off the Blu-Ray version or $5 off the DVD version of the movie The Proposal! The fine print states that it is valid in Canada and the US and when you go to choose which coupon you want to print you get to choose your country and language. This is perfect timing because a friend of mine just said that she loved the movie and wouldn’t mind getting a copy for Christmas, so guess what I’ll be getting her.
The best prices I’ve seen for this movie so far have been $18.99 for the DVD and $28.99 for the Blu-Ray (both prices at Future Shop). I don’t know how much they are at WalMart or Zellers but the should be comparable.
This offer expires on October 18,...

Amazon’s DVD current DVD sales (find out more about them here and here) must be doing them quite well — because they keep adding more! As of this writing there are FOUR active DVD promotions worth checking out. The latest? Their British TV Blowout.
While the site advertises savings of up to 48%, a number of series have savings that surpass even that. Fans of British classics from every era and every genre — from The Avengers to Little Britain, are going to be tickled pink by the selection.
The only thing missing (and sadly, the only thing I was looking for) was a good deal on classic Doctor Who. Oh well — you can’t win them all.

First things first, I was not paid by any company to write this post in any way, shape or form. I did however, attend an info-session with live demos of Toshiba products and have decided to share some thoughts based on my experience there.
Our current TV was generously donated to us by Gus when John first moved to Vancouver about 3 years ago and I have actually been curious about LCD and Plasma TV technology since I live blogged a debate with Amber MacArthur and Leo Laporte over at Future...
When reports first came out about a month ago that Real Networks was launching a DVD-ripping software application called RealDVD, a number of people — including yours truly — wondered what on earth the geniuses at Real were smoking. How could such a product not get sued? Even though the software uses its own digital-rights management controls to prevent sharing, burning, etc., it seemed obvious that the movie industry would have a conniption when they got wind of RealDVD. And guess what? They’ve gone ahead and launched a lawsuit against the company.
Real’s lawyers tried to get the jump on Hollywood (or rather, the Motion Picture Association of America) by filing a lawsuit against the organization first, asking the courts to rule that RealDVD complies with licensing...
Brad Stone over at The New York Times has a story about how Real Networks — which owns the Rhapsody music service, but is probably best known for distributing one of the most irritating media players ever — is launching DVD-copying software. It will allow users to make a copy of a movie, along with all of the features and artwork, but they will only be allowed to play the movie on the computer that runs the software. It also can’t be burned to a DVD and played in a DVD player, and in order to play it on another PC, users will have to pay $20 to buy another copy of the software for each device they want to play it on.
This is the kind of product announcement that makes you shake your head and wonder what the hell people at companies like Real are thinking. Not only is the...
