Visit the original article at http://www.miss604.com/2008/07/friday-morning-link-fest-bob-ackles-day-in-vancouver.html.It’s been a while since I’ve collected a link fest and since there will be tons of content pouring over this site throughout the weekend here’s a quick run down of some news around the web. To follow up my “we’re not number one” post from a while back, I would simply like to note that Surrey is not Canada’s property crime capital. Actually, Vancouver isn’t either as Abbotsford and Mission have been given the inauspicious title this week. [News1130] Dr Beth...

Vancouver’s North Shore Mountains via Miss604's Vancouver Blog by Vancouver Blogger Rebecca Bollwitt April 1st, 2008 at 16:23

Visit the original article at http://www.miss604.com/2008/04/vancouvers-north-shore-mountains.html.Okay technically, they are not in Vancouver but after posting some photos from Mount Seymour recently I was asked about the North Shore Mountains. The Lions fit in the middle somewhere, but those not from around here (or maybe even some locals) might not know just exactly where they are and what they’re called. Here’s a quick rundown courtesy of wikipedia. Cypress Group Black Mountain (1217m) A forested summit overlooking Horseshoe Bay. Ski runs on the northern slopes are managed by the Cypress Mountain Resort. Hollyburn Mountain (1325m) A popular hiking destination. Commonly known as Hollyburn Ridge and the location of an old alpine...

Vancouver History: The Lions, The Two Sisters via Miss604's Vancouver Blog January 28th, 2008 at 18:33

image Copyright © 2008 Miss604 - Rebecca Bollwitt. Visit the original article at http://www.miss604.com/2008/01/vancouver-history-the-lions-the-two-sisters.html.They sit above Vancouver and are the namesake for many things Vancouver-related, from bridges to movie production studios but not everyone would refer to these two majestic peaks, reigning over our region as “The Lions”. Photo credit: penmachine on Flickr Legend has it that these are actually two sisters of a great nation that existed long before any of us were here. They are a part of a story and tradition that honors women and their peaceful nation, the following are excepts from the legend of “The Two Sisters”, written in 1911 by E. Pauline Johnson: Perhaps the greatest of these traditions is the story of...

Lions Gate Photo Blog via Miss604's Canuck Life :: A Vancouver Blog May 22nd, 2007 at 05:34

image John and I are finally settling in after about 5 hours of walking around town and through Stanley Park. I went somewhere I haven’t ever been before - the deck of Lions Gate…on foot. The pictures from our mini hike speak for themselves so here they are a couple taken with my phone. The rest can be found on my Flickr tag: LionsGateTrek. Where we started The underbelly I couldn’t look up - this was taken blindly by turning my phone upside down, pointing and clicking Podcasting from above Little worried - such a wuss Happy we’re headed back to land Where we were Um, that’s big Our reward Share This...
