Olympic Cauldron Re-Lit for Canada Day via Vancouver Blog Miss 604 June 9th, 2010 at 22:17

image The Vancouver 2010 Olympic cauldron will be re-lit for Canada Day 2010 once a few renovations are complete. The site is surrounded by a fence and the distinctive 2010 blue-and-green hoarding that once surrounded all Olympic venues. The redesign will include a reflecting pool with a map of Canada showing the torch relay route under the cauldron. Benches for people to sit will surround the perimeter. 2010 Winter Games Commemorative Book via Vancouver Blog Miss 604 June 9th, 2010 at 18:19

image Yesterday I received a copy of the official 2010 Winter Games commemorative book, which probably has one of the longest titles I’ve seen: With Glowing Hearts: The Official Commemorative Book of the XXI Olympic Winter Games and the X Paralympic Winter Games/Des plus brillants exploits: Le livre commémoratif officiel des XXIes Jeux olympiques d hiver et des Xes Jeux paralympiques d hiver. Cracking open the hardcover I was met with a quote from John Furlong that immediately choked me up. All that I felt during the Olympics and Paralympics came rushing back. It was much more than emotion, sometimes it was even the stress of covering a global event in my backyard for 14 hours a day (which was all completely worth it). The pages in this book and the beautiful photography evoke a sense...

Fate of the Olympic Countdown Clock via Vancouver Blog Miss 604 May 31st, 2010 at 17:32

image The Olympic and Paralympic Countdown Clock in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery was a symbol of the Olympic Games for many. It ticked away the months, days, hours, minutes and seconds of anticipation for what became the largest global party this city has ever seen. Photo credit: Robert Scales on Flickr At first it was an eyesore for some, then it soon became something so much more. Now that the Games are over, the fate of the clock is uncertain. The Omega-owned sculpture at the northwest side of the Vancouver Art Gallery site could be moved or it could stay put… …“The city has been in discussions with Omega, VANOC and the...
